Popular Queens barber fatally shot in vehicle, no arrests

Popular Queens barber fatally shot in vehicle, no arrests news Zanu Simpson

(Social Media)

Police are still searching for the person who shot a Queens barber in the head while he was sitting inside his vehicle.

Authorities responded to reports of a man shot at 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday to find Zanu Simpson unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his head. Police sources said that he had only just left a nearby bar and grill before he was shot.

While a gun was recovered at the scene, police have not yet arrested the person responsible, but they believe they are looking for a shooter who was last seen in a gray sweatsuit and fleeing in a silver sedan.

Simpson was a well-known barber in the area, running Queens’ Strickly Skillz Barbershop with his brother after moving to New York City from Jamaica. He had over 15,000 followers on Instagram and boasted celebrity clients like Future and Mobb Deep.

The shop posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday after Simpson’s loss, and the post’s writer wrote that “the worst thing” would be learning “they hurt you in these streets.”

“I’m glad I always told that you was the other half of me when they saw me they ask where your brother at. Now I don’t know what to tell them all them memories I will never forget them,”  the post continued.
