Memphis Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta ready to roll into next service year

The ladies of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (Alpha Eta Zeta Chapter) are gearing up for their 2018-19 sorority year. With over 100 members, they are excited to get started and put the ideals of building on the principles of “Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood” into action.

“We have been serving Memphis since 1939 and it is an honor to be the president of such an astounding chapter,” said Stacey J. Smith. “We have ladies who joined in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, so everyone provides unique experience, great skillset and dynamic culture into our organization.”

The sorority has partnerships with agencies throughout the city. It’s all part of continuing to do programs that impact the community and helps citizens excel.

“We are anxious to partner with companies who want to sponsor some of our events and promote their business, as well,” Smith said. “We have programs that serve all populations in the greater Memphis area.”

The planned initiatives include: A Voter Registration Drive, ACT Prep workshops, Autism Awareness, Mental Health, Domestic Violence Forum, Breast Cancer Awareness, the sorority’s Stork’s Nest and providing scholarships through the Alpha Eta Zeta DOVE Foundation.

“Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated is a community conscious, action-oriented organization and we look forward to serving Memphis,” Smith said.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated was founded January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC by five women, who are affectionately known as “The Five Pearls.”  The sorority is the only Greek letter organization that is constitutionally bound to the brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated.
