A continuum of conversations on the importance of minority businesses to the community and the economy was coupled with spotlights on minority- and women-owned business enterprise (M/WBE) during the annual observance of MED Week (Oct. 25-Nov. 16) hosted in Memphis by the Mid-South Minority Business Council Continuum (The MMBC Continuum).
A select group of corporations and community organizations teamed with The MMBC Continuum in highlighting the importance of minority business participation, growth and job creation.
Guest speaker Matial Guttman of McKinsey & Company orchestrated what was billed as the “ultimate conversation” as the MED Week observance concluded with the Robert R Church, Sr. Achievement Awards at the Holiday Inn-University of Memphis (3700 Central Ave.) last Friday.
Guttman discussed a recently published whitepaper titled “Delivering through Diversity,” which examined the impact that diversity and inclusion have upon corporate financial performance.
MED Week is a national observation presented under the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA, a division of the US Department of Commerce, and annually recognizes the accomplishments of Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs).
The MMBC Continuum is “the economic accelerator for stage II M/WBEs and is committed to empowering and assisting scalable minority and women-owned businesses to supply corporate demands.”
Through the Robert R. Church Awards, The MMBC Continuum seeks to recognize corporations that engage scalable minority and women-owned businesses to competitively bid for contract opportunities to provide quality goods and services.
