Governor Bill Lee on Tuesday morning announced that FedEx Logistics was making it’s global headquarters in Downtown Memphis.
The Gibson Guitar building will be the home of Memphis-based FedEx Corp.’s specialty services and trade unit. The announcement was made at the corner of Lt. George W. Lee Ave. and Third St. in front of the building and across from FedExForum.
The projection is for nearly 700 well-paying jobs to be generated in the next three years.
The announcement at a press conference turned celebratory event, with lots of cheers and applause. Elected officials, local business owners and community leaders were among those in attendance.
