Chat and code workshop came power ready

The invitation was to come chat with Black Girls Code and “some powerful women of color in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

The annual event was held at the Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering last Saturday.

The audience included parents and girls from ages 6 to 17. The discussion was spirited and lively and featured some of the Memphis area’s leading voices of Women in Color in Stem.

Panelists included:

* Kimberly Walker Adams – Mechanical and manufacturing engineering;

* Kimberly Bailey – Computer Information Systems;

* Lakesha F. Snow – Civil engineering in nuclear studies;

* Sheleah Harris – STEM in secondary education;

* Lakenna Booker – Biology/cellular and molecular science.

The keynote speaker was tech entrepreneur Brittany Fitzpatrick, who also participated in the panel discussion.
