In times like these… The 50th Pastoral Anniversary for the Rev. Dr. Melvin Charles Smith, pastor of Mt. Moriah-East Baptist Church, was a bittersweet affair made so by the passing of first lady Billie Rutherford Smith. At the anniversary reception and gala on Friday (Dec. 1), Dr. Smith spoke of his heartfelt thanks for the church’s support through the years right down to the death of his wife, whose home-going celebration was held at the church on Sunday.
