Reporter April Ryan Asks Trump: ‘Are You a Racist?’ During MLK Event at White House

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is around the corner, so you know what that means? Time to rattle Old Ben Carson’s birdcage and see if he has some words he’d like to mumble as the resident black face in Donald Trump’s administration.

On Friday the former neurosurgeon, who might want to do some work on his own brain, and current secretary of housing and urban development was trotted out, along with several other African Americans (one of whom I think had a conk), to flank the president as he made some brief remarks honoring the late, great Martin Luther King Jr.

God’s personal reporter—seriously, she is doing the Lord’s work—April Ryan, whose official title is reporter for Urban Radio Networks and who is also a regular CNN contributor, asked the president point blank: “Are you racist?” The Hill reports.

Ryan’s very serious question comes after the racist in chief went into his racist bag during a meeting Thursday with congressmen over the country’s immigration laws, in which he reportedly called black and brown countries, including Haiti, El Salvador and some nations in Africa, “shithole countries.”

Trump ignored Ryan’s question and quickly scurried out of the room. The president did not take questions, and it was unclear whether he shook the hand of the guy with the conk.

On Friday morning, Trump took to Twitter to claim, “Never said anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country. Never said ‘take them out.’ Made up by Dems. I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians.”

Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin, who attended the meeting, has come forward to state that not only did the president absolutely use the term “shithole countries,” but he used the term repeatedly.

Here is how Durbin explained the meeting with the president to CBS News:

When the question was raised about Haitians, for example, we have a group that have temporary protected status in the United States because they were the victims of crises and disasters and political upheaval. The largest group is El Salvadoran. The second is Honduran and the third is Haitian, and when I mentioned that fact to him, he said ‘Haitians? Do we need more Haitians?’ And then he went on and started to describe the immigration from Africa that was being protected in this bipartisan measure. That’s where he used these vile and vulgar comments, calling the nations they come from “shitholes” — the exact word used by the president not just once, but repeatedly.

I just got off the phone with the secretary for heaven’s residents, and the secretary noted that while heaven has no official statement on Trump’s recent behavior, MLK did want to note that he doesn’t “mess with this dude” and added: “Whose man is this?”
