Rep. Hardaway calls for protest of Katt Williams concert in Southaven

State Rep. G.A. Hardaway and Los Angeles-based attorney James A. Bryant of the Cochran Firm California will hold a press conference on Friday (February 2) at 10 a.m. to call for a boycott of the upcoming area concert by comedian Katt Williams.

Also appearing at the press conference will be a Memphis woman that is currently suing the entertainer for assault.

Williams is scheduled to perform on Valentine’s Day at the Landers Center in Southaven, Ms.  The controversial actor/comedian is almost as well-known for his numerous brushes with the law as for his comedy tours and movies.  Memphian Angelina Triplett, who is represented by Bryant, is currently suing Williams for allegedly hitting her and causing her numerous injuries.

“This is an individual that is being sued for brutally assaulting a member of our community,” Hardaway said.  “He’s been arrested more than a dozen times, many of those for assault.  This is not the type of individual that we need to be supporting.”

Representatives from various women’s advocacy groups are set to appear at the press event.  The press conference will be located at the Southwest corner of the Shelby County Courthouse; 140 Adams Ave.

The New Tri-State Defender has reached out to the Landers Center for comment. Check back here for updates.
