Chance The Rapper is donating his Grammy Award for best rap album to Chicago’s DuSable Museum of African American History.

According to the Chicago Sun-TimesChance, who has been on the board of trustees for the museum since January, surprised officials on Saturday when he made the announcement at the museum’s gala, during which he said that he wanted to the make the museum “a staple of African-American history.”

Chance won three Grammy awards in February: Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, and Best New Artist. He made history with his album, Coloring Book, when it became the first streaming-only album to win a Grammy, and he continues to break barriers as his career progresses.

Chance had been focused on giving back to the community and made headlines with his quest to improve the Chicago school system. He also recently received the BET Humanitarian Award at the 2017 BET Awards.
