Bobby O’Jay celebrated 35 years of radio in Memphis at WDIA. It was a turnout fit for a king, with family, friends, and local celebrities on hand to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Among the distinguished guests: Fred Jones, founder of the Southern Heritage Classic; James Alexander (Bar-Kays) and his wife Evelyn; blues legend Bobby Rush; radio legend Bev Johnson; Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland: Shelby County Mayor Mark Lutrell, Southern Soul crooner Willie Clayton, and many more.

Among the performers was Karen Wolf and The Temprees. The Hard Rock Café was indeed rocking! The place was filled to capacity, and they were still partying when I left. The rain did not deter the WDIA listeners from attending this event.
