Madonna Called Whitney Houston Mediocre in Letter Up for Auction

First there was the Tupac Shakur letter, up for auction, in which the late rapper explained to Madonna why he broke up with her. And now there’s another letter heading to auction, said by auctioneers to have been written by Madonna, which refers to one of the greatest singers of our time as “mediocre.”

In a letter written to a “J,” whom auctioneers say is actor John Enos, Madonna complained that Whitney Houston and actress Sharon Stone were “mediocre” and shared how she was feeling “so uncomfortable in my own skin right now.”

“I have made so many people angry that I’m being punished and basically made to be quiet and sit in a corner, while other less interesting and exciting people are reaping the benefits of the roads I’ve paved,” she wrote.

Gotta Have Rock & Roll Auction

“It’s so unequivocally frustrating to read that Whitney Houston has the music career I wish I had and Sharon Stone has the film career I’ll never have. Not because I want to be these women because I’d rather die, but they’re so horribly mediocre and they’re always being held up as paragons of virtue and some sort of measuring stick to humiliate me,” she added.

In the letter, Madonna continued to complain about people lacking originality and indicated that she considered herself to be an original talent.

“Everything I do is so original and unique and I put so much of myself into it like my book and record and it’s only brought me heartache and pain,” she wrote.

“I don’t think I can play the game to be accepted,” she added. “I’m too intelligent, I have too much pride.”

Darlene Lutz, Madonna’s art consultant (maybe former?), was the owner of the letter, which is being auctioned off with a starting bid of $1,000.

Now, how’s that for a throwback Thursday? Somewhere in another world, Houston is probably saying, “That heifer has some nerve.”
