2 Former Staff Members Charged in Circulation of Nude Photos of US House Member, Husband

Del. Stacey Plaskett, D-V.I. (U.S. House Office of Photography)

Two former staff members of a congresswoman have been charged in the circulation of nude photos and video of the representative and her husband, federal prosecutors and the U.S. Capitol Police announced Thursday in Washington, D.C..

U.S. Attorney for the District Channing D. Phillips and Capitol Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa said in a statement that 35-year-old Juan R. McCullum of Washington was indicted on two counts of cyberstalking, and his former co-worker Dorene Browne-Louis, 45, of Upper Marlboro, Md., was indicted on two counts of obstruction of justice, the Washington Post reports.

In the charging documents, the representative is identified only by the initials S.P., but a spokesman for Del. Stacey Plaskett, the Virgin Islands nonvoting Democratic delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives, confirmed to the Post that Plaskett is the “S.P.” referred to in the documents and said that the office would release a statement late Thursday or Friday.

The charges stem from a 2016 incident in which personal photographs of Plaskett surfaced on the internet shortly before a primary election.

McCallum reportedly got access to the photos in March 2016 when he offered to take Plaskett’s malfunctioning iPhone to an Apple store to be repaired.

In July 2016, after McCallum left Plaskett’s staff, he allegedly created a Hotmail account and a Facebook account under a fake name in order to post the photographs, and he encouraged others to share them. He also allegedly texted Browne-Louis and emailed her some of the material, too.

According to the Post, McCallum is a former reality-TV star known as “Pretty” from the VH1 show I Love New York.

Browne-Louis pleaded not guilty before a U.S. magistrate Thursday and is due back in court Wednesday. She faces a maximum of 20 years in prison on obstruction of justice charges. McCallum, who has not yet appeared in court, faces a maximum of five years in prison.
