Explore Bike Share, the nonprofit that launched a bike share system in Memphis this May featuring 60-stations and 600-bikes, will offer a special monthly membership price of $9.01 available for purchase from Thursday, August 30 to Thursday, September 6.
Sara Studdard, Explore Bike Share’s community engagement and marketing director, said the nonprofit created and launched by Memphians for Memphians is celebrating 901 Day in earnest.
“We want to use and contribute to the passion surrounding this special celebration of Memphis culture to further our mission to connect Memphis using our affordable, accessible, and available method of public transportation and recreation,” Studdard said
The 901 Day monthly memberships will activate upon first ride, allowing users to ride for 30 days at the discounted price.
Accompanying the membership promotion will be a partnership-funded social media contest. Explore Bike Share users tag the Explore Bike Share social media accounts in their selfies or other media content to enter. Winners will receive prize packages donated by Explore Bike Share partners such as Choose901.
“901 Day is a celebration of all things Memphis, and our sponsors and community partners represent an incredibly diverse set of local health, entertainment, art, community, and tourism organizations that make our city the cultural hub that it is,” said Trey Moore, Explore Bike Share’s executive director. “For Explore Bike Share, Memphis comes first, and it always has.”
Explore Bike Share will participate in New Memphis’s Exposure, a free 901 Day celebratory event on August 30 in AutoZone Park. Over 150 local organizations and businesses will discuss their commitment to transportation equity and demonstrate the bike share service to those who are still unfamiliar.
