When the grounds of Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium swell with Southern Heritage Classic attendees this weekend, thousands of pairs of feet will walk along Fred Jones Way, a familiar path that now bears the name of the founder of “The Classic.”
The wraps came off of Fred Jones Way on Monday morning during a ceremony with Mayor Jim Strickland doing the unveiling. Once known as Home Run Lane, Fred Jones Way — a north-south street — is behind the building designated for the Memphis Office of Youth Services and located to the west of Hollywood St.
