National Women’s March co-chair to keynote NAACP Freedom Fund gala

The Memphis Branch NAACP’s annual Freedom Fund Luncheon will be held on Saturday (April 20) and giving the keynote address will be Tamika Mallory, national co-chair of the Women’s March.

The Guest House at Graceland is the venue, with the luncheon set to begin at at 11:30 a.m.

The Women’s March in Washington, D.C. in 2017 was mirrored in Memphis and several other cities and served as a counterpoint to the inauguration of Donald Trump as president. Mallory was among the organizers of the women’s march.

President of Mallory Consulting, a strategic planning firm, Mallory serves on the board of The Gathering for Justice, a social justice organization (2005) by Harry Belafonte. Its goal is to end the incarceration of children.

For the Memphis Branch NAACP, the Freedom Fund gala is its largest annual fundraiser.

The co-chairs for the Freedom Fund gala are The Rev. Bartholomew Orr, senior pastor of Brown Missionary Baptist Church, and Melanie Coles of First Choice sales and marketing and attorney Bruce Kramer.
