At some point, dear reader, what’s happening in our country right now isn’t about Democrats or Republicans, “so-called liberals” and “so-called conservatives.” It’s about the very fabric of our nation. It’s about what it means to be an American.

That’s why I was pumping my fist after watching U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D. – N.J.) light into Department of Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen. She was yet another person who was in that meeting where President Trump made those awful remarks. And yet another person cowering behind the “I don’t remember what was said” excuse.

She’s not fooling anybody — not Republican Senator Patrick Leahy, who himself pointed out that Norway’s population was mostly white. And she’s certainly not fooling Booker, who strategically built a case for why white supremacists should be DHS’s top priority.

But more inspiring — and okay, fine, PRESIDENTIAL — was how passionately Booker speaks about the ideals of America. We have much work to do indeed, but the American ideal is worth pursuing.

Take 10 minutes. Watch the clip. It’s good for you.
