Though there have always been pockets of disgust at the black community’s seemingly undying support for R. Kelly—the R&B singer who has allegedly preyed upon young black girls and women for decades—it looks like folks are finally getting the message about Mr. Creepy.
Kellz, currently on The After Party tour, has been reportedly singing to half-filled venues.
TMZ reports that his most recent show, in Virginia Beach, Va., was at about 50 percent capacity hours before the Friday night show. The joint holds 20,000.
Last week, a searing expose of the 50 -year-old singer emerged, this time alleging that he was running a sex cult and keeping young women captive in houses in Georgia and Illinois. The families of some of the women allege that Kelly has the women brainwashed and the writer of the Buzzfeed report said that Kelly controls everything from what the women wear to who they can talk to when they can use the bathroom.
Kelly took to Twitter on Thursday to denounce the rumors and drum up sales, but so far, it looks to not be helping.
“Despite all of the crap y’all hearing, I will be coming to the East Coast to do my shows,” he said in the video. “And believe me y’all, it’s a bunch of crap.”
And so are those ticket sales. Dey is a Gawd.
