Going forward with the New Poor People’s Campaign

The Rev. Dr. William Barber II, citing voting rights suppression and more, said now is time for a political revolution.

The most recognized voice in the New Poor People’s Campaign, which is being organized nationally by Repairers of the Breach, Barber made the case for the campaign’s need during an address in downtown Memphis on Wednesday morning.

The backdrop was Memphis and the nation’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis on April 4, 1968.

“We must turn this nation around,” Barber said.
