Grown-ish will be the name of the Black-ish spin off that will follow Zoey, Yara Shahidi’s character, to college at the University of Southern California.
Chris Parnell, Trevor Jackson, and Emily Arlook, will join Shahidi and Deon Cole in the Grown-ish cast, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Creator Kenya Barris wrote in a statement, “Grown-ish reflects what we’ll be dealing with in the show- that in-between place where you’re not quite an adult but facing grown world problems for the first time.”
“Where Black-ish examines what it means to be black, Grown-ish is an examination of what it is and what it means to be grown,” Barris added.
Grown-ish will premiere on Freeform in 2018, and Black-ish returns to ABC for its fourth season on October 3.
