Man, fiancée kicked off United flight en route to their wedding

The hits just keep coming for United Airlines.

Michael Hohl and Amber Maxwell were on their way to a destination wedding in Costa Rica to get married when they were kicked off the flight.

According to the couple, when they arrived at their seats, 24B and 24C, a napping man was taking up their seats, so they moved up a few rows in the half-empty flight to 21B and 21C, according to local TV affiliate KHOU.

Hohl described the move as “simply in an economy row a few rows above our economy seat.”

They claimed that a flight attendant asked them to move back to their original seats, and they did so, only to be told by another official that they had to leave.

“They said that we were being disorderly and a hazard to the rest of the flight, to the safety of the other customers,” Hohl said.

However, United said in a statement that the couple had repeatedly tried to move a little further up the plane than their economy-class tickets.

“These passengers repeatedly attempted to sit in upgraded seating which they did not purchase and they would not follow crew instructions to return to their assigned seats,” the airline said. “We’ve been in touch with them and have rebooked them.”
