Grizzlies start strong in preseason opener, get blown out by Rockets in Birmingham, 131-115

The Memphis Grizzlies opened their preseason with an exhibition against the Houston Rockets in Birmingham on Tuesday night. Memphis started strong, leading most of the first half, but Houston began launching bombs and pulled away in the third quarter and eventually winning, 131-115.

Mike Conley led Memphis with 16 points followed by an encouraging showing from Chandler Parsons with 12 points. But Houston’s Chris Paul led all scorers with 22 points, with James Harden chipping in 20 and newcomer Michael Carter-Williams adding 19 off the bench.
