Grizzlies literally can’t rebound, lose to Houston Rockets in preseason finale

It wasn’t until I looked at the halftime boxscore of the Grizzlies grisly 131-103 loss to the Houston Rockets that I realized that a familiar word has been missing from the Grizzlies vocabulary lately.

With all the talk of veterans, and high basketball IQ, and playmaking and defense, here’s a word everyone forgot about — including the Grizzlies Friday night:

Rebounding. The Grizzlies tallied ZERO offensive rebounds in the first half, and few others. And because they couldn’t get the rock, they couldn’t take advantage of Houston’s slow offensive start. Because when they caught fire, the hole was just too deep for the Grizzlies to dig out of.
