Tigers roll in 120-66 exhibition win over LeMoyne Owen

New Memphis Tigers coach Penny Hardaway has stressed that he intends for his team to play a fast-paced game on both ends of the floor – swarming defense and a high-octane offense.

Thursday’s 120-66 exhibition win over the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians featured plenty of both.

Freshman Tyler Harris bombed away from the perimeter en route to a 26 point night, while Kyvon Davenport chipped in 19 and Isaiah Maurice scored 18 in the runaway win. And while the games won’t officially count until after the team’s final exhibition game against Christian Brothers next Friday, it gave Memphis a glimpse of what promises to be a thrilling season.

“I liked what I saw,” Hardaway said. “I stressed moving the ball and my most proud stat was 32 assists. That is really sharing and distributing the ball. That is something we that we really want to continue to do.”
