October 15 – The Germantown Performing Arts Center is hosting its Food Truck and Music Festival from noon to 6:30 p.m. Ashley McBryde headlines the festival with performances by Soul Remedy, Almost Famous, the Ladies of Seeing Red and School of Rock. More than a dozen food trucks will be on-site, and there will be a bounce house and other activities for kids. Bring your appetites, blankets and folding chairs and enjoy the GPAC Grove all day, but please no coolers. GPAC is at 1801 Exeter Road in Germantown. A $5 donation is suggested.
October 15 – For a Sunday afternoon dinner and show, Memphis Black Restaurant Week is hosting a noon champagne brunch at HM Dessert Lounge followed by a 3 p.m. showing of “Sassy Mamas” at Hattiloo Theatre. The play is a comedy about three longtime girlfriends who find themselves living single — one widowed, one abandoned for another woman and one career-driven. They use social status and wealth to ensnare younger male suitors. The play starts at 3 p.m., but be there no later than 2:45 p.m. for seating.
