Outrage after GOP lawmaker says ‘no one dies’ from lack of heath care

Outrage after GOP lawmaker says ‘no one dies’ from lack of heath care news Rep. Raul Labrador

(Twitter)

Rep. Raul Labrador appeared at a town hall in Idaho less than 24 hours after the House of Representatives passed their American Health Care Act (AHCA) and was shouted down and booed when he suggested that “no one” in the United States died because they did not have access to health care.

During the town hall held at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, a woman told Labrador that she was worried that the loss of coverage under Medicaid would result in deaths under the new law.

“That line is so indefensible,” Labrador said. “Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care.”

He was immediately shouted down and booed by the crowd.

This is not the first controversial town hall for Labrador, who was also booed after he told  a crowd in April that he didn’t believe health care was a “basic human right.”
