A Brooklyn toddler who was allegedly beaten into unconsciousness by her father while she visited him on Father’s Day has died.
The little girl was just 16 months old and had been fighting for her life since she was found unconscious and unresponsive at her father’s Coney Island apartment last Sunday.
Her father, 18-year-old Shaquan Taylor has been in jail since he was arrested on Sunday on charges of assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
The district attorney’s office will be looking into upgrading the charges against Taylor.

According to prosecutors the little girl had a fractured skull and bruising to her face, nose, arms, and legs. She also suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen. Possibly from being choked.
The mother of the girl called 911 that afternoon to say she had been chased and punched in the face by her ex in the lobby of his apartment building. She was holding their child at the time. According to her, the man grabbed the baby from her arms and kept beating the mother.
When police got to the scene they found the child laying face up in the living room of the father’s apartment. She was unconscious, unresponsive and was breathing shallow. She was immediately taken to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition.
Doctors have determined that the child was injured prior to the altercation with the mother who was also taken to hospital in stable condition.
