Sports Illustrated’s iconic swimsuit issue has a new cover model, and her name is Danielle Herrington!

Tuesday, the highly anticipated annual issue debuted with Herrington featured in a skimpy pink bikini – making her only the third black model to ever get the coveted spot.

Following the announcement she made her first appearance on “Good Morning America” where she shared how she was “in tears” when she got the news. “I put in so much work,” she shared. “I reached my dream.”

The 24-year-old who who now resides in Brooklyn, is originally from Compton – but swears she had a”pretty normal,” childhood despite what some may assume about her hometown.

“A lot of the time after school, we would go to my grandma’s house because my parents were working,” she told Fox News in 2017. “We would swim, ride our bikes down the street, we had a trampoline, scooters, everything! I went to a private school so I guess I got away from the bad action.”

Not surprisingly, she was also heavily inspired by Tyra Banks who was the first black woman to grace the cover in 1997, followed by Beyonce in 2007.

“She’s how I found out about Sports Illustrated,” she told GMA co-anchor Michael Strahan. “I remember watching on ‘The Tyra Banks Show,’ she said, she was the first black woman to cover Sports Illustrated. I just always aspired to be like her and follow in her footsteps.”

Like Banks and Knowles-Carter, Herrington also has her eyes set on having a career that surpasses modeling.

“I just can’t wait to be a businesswoman like them,” she gushes. And it appears she’s already gotten the stamp of approval from her idol because it was Banks who personally revealed her cover to the world.
