It’s been more than a year since the Memphis Grizzlies parted ways with Rick Trotter, amid allegations that he had been shooting photos up the skirts of women at his church. Well, they’re not just allegations anymore. From the Office of District Attorney Amy Weirich:

Oct. 12, 2017 – Former Memphis Grizzlies public address announcer Rick Trotter was indicted Thursday on four counts of unlawfully photographing women under their skirts at a church where he was a worship leader, Shelby County Dist. Atty. Amy Weirich said Thursday.
Trotter, 41, whose full name is Dwayne Rick Trotter, is free on bond, Each count of unlawfully photographing in violation of privacy is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 11 months 29 days in jail and a fine of $2,500.
In May of 2016, officials with The Downtown Church filed a complaint with Memphis Police about Trotter using his church-issued cell phone to take videos under a woman’s skirt as he kneeled behind her. An investigation showed additional up-skirt videos he had made of female church members and downloaded onto his church-issued laptop.
The victims, whose ages ranged from 29 to 63, identified themselves on the videos by clothing, voice and surroundings. Trotter gave church and police a statement of admission.

No word yet on whether Trotter will go on trial or accept a plea bargain. But it’s a sad story all around. Keep the victims in your prayers, as well as Trotter’s family. And it may sound strange, but keep Trotter in your prayers too. As I’ve written before, he’s fighting demons — and we all need God’s help with that.
