The brand will honor the late singer next summer.
On the heels of MAC’s wildly successful collection inspired by the late Selena Quintanilla, the company announced this morning that come summer 2018, it will release (and consequently sell out of) a limited-edition collection inspired by R&B phenomenon Aaliyah.
Much like the Selena collection, you can thank Aaliyah’s fans for making it happen. A Change.org petition has garnered over 26,000 signatures since it was created by super-fans in 2015, urging MAC to release a collection in honor of the artist, who was a known fan of the brand’s products.
“Aaliyah is truly one in a million — an unstoppable icon whose groundbreaking work in R&B music and film inspires us all,” MAC shared in a press release. “Today we join her countless fans in celebrating her with the announcement of the M·A·C Aaliyah collection. You made it happen!”
While the brand hasn’t divulged any details on what products we can expect to see next summer, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for all of Aaliyah’s essentials: lipsticks, glosses, and lip liners in all of the perfect brown, beige, and burgundy shades she wore so well.
