“I’m sure at least one person you know owns a T-Shirt,” Chima Onwuka stated in regards to a recent T-Shirt campaign launched by his non-profit organization, Grind City Cares.
Grind City Cares is a local non-profit organization that provides essential resources to various Memphis communities in need. Chima Onwuka started the organization soon before the COVID-19 pandemic happened to help fund another small business that he helped start.
Once the pandemic came and America went on lockdown, Onwuka found his organization in a tight, but strategic predicament.
“When COVID hit, I’m like man this is terrible… but for a non-profit, this a big opportunity to see what we can do,” Onwuka stated.
Grind City Cares then launched a T-Shirt campaign in which they sold Grind City Cares T-Shirts to help support the communities in need during the COVID-19 pandemic by donating 50% of the proceeds to the victims and their families.
