The NBA Awards were Monday night. And if you’re looking for the results . . . well, this ain’t that story, but here are the biggies: Giannis Antetokounpo won MVP and Luka Doncic won Rookie of the Year.
Now for the awards you care about because of the GUY you care about: Mike Conley. Conley, who is headed to the Utah Jazz in a trade that won’t be finalized until July 6, won two NBA Awards — for Teammate of the Year and the 2019 Sportsmanship Award. And he got those awards for his work here in Memphis.
Of course, we’d like to see the guy win awards for his play on the court. But these awards correctly honor Conley for the MAN he is and the contribution he’s made to the city of Memphis.
Oh, and about that trade. NBA rules prohibit the Grizzlies from even acknowledging that it’s happened. But that hasn’t stopped Mike Conley from posting photos on Instagram of him working out with his new backcourt running mate Donovan Mitchell.

And as you can see from above, it hasn’t stopped him from talking to ESPN about his time in Memphis and the road ahead. Check it out!
