The Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis will host its annual “Power of the Purse” auction event on Oct. 22, featuring live entertainment, luxury items, and a chance to support local women and families.
The Grand Carousel Pavilion of the Children’s Museum of Memphis will transform into a vibrant evening of food, fashion, and philanthropy as the Women’s Foundation for a Greater Memphis (WFGM) presents its signature fall fundraiser, “Power of the Purse.” The event, sponsored by Bank of America, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 6-8 p.m.
Guests will enjoy live music by singer-songwriter CharveyMac, elevated cuisine, and complimentary wine and beer. Local artists Jamond Bullock and Alexis Miché will create artwork on-site, which will be auctioned off alongside luxury jewelry, handbags, vacation packages, and more.
WMC Action News 5 Anchor Joe Birch and Morris Marketing Group President and CEO Valerie Morris Bearup will emcee the live auction.
This year’s event, co-chaired by Denise Carpenter and Bacarra Mauldin, aims to support WFGM’s grantmaking and Vision 2025 Strategic Plan. The organization will distribute $1.8 million to 38 local nonprofits this fiscal year, enhancing the economic and social mobility of thousands of women and families in Memphis.
“We’re grateful for the tireless efforts of our Co-Chairs, Honorary Co-Chairs, and Planning Committee in organizing an unforgettable event that fuels our mission,” said Shante K. Avant, WFGM President and CEO. “This year’s theme, ‘Connect, Invest, Empower,’ embodies the collective impact we can make by uniting our community to uplift Memphis.”
Tickets for the event are $75 and can be purchased at event.gives/2024pop. An online silent auction will begin on Oct. 15 and conclude on Oct. 22.
