The Beale St. Music Festival was a photography feeding ground on Saturday notwithstanding a late-night, severe weather alert that forced Memphis in May officials to halt planned proceedings.

The annual festival, which historically has been held at Tom Lee Park along the Riverfront, kicked off at Liberty Park at the Fairgrounds on Friday night.

Renovations to Tom Lee Park are ongoing, with the Beale Street Music Festival projected to be back downtown next year.

The festival is delivering its annual smorgasbord of music for the first time since 2019 in deference to pandemic. It is set to include tonight (May 1).

Meanwhile, here is a collection of images from Saturday evening, followed by Sunday’s schedule.
