If you want to see the wizard, bypass the yellow brick road and head down to The Halloran Centre for the Performing Arts this weekend.

For their season-ending show, Ballet on Wheels will do two performances of “The Wiz,” the 1975 classic urban version of Frank L. Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz” – best known for the motion picture starring Diana Ross as Dorothy and Michael Jackson as Scarecrow.

The community-based ballet school and youth dance company will take the stage Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m. and a Sunday afternoon matinee, June 9 at 2:30 p.m. Both shows will be at the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts and Education, located at 225 S. Main Street.

“The Wiz” is a high-energy, culture-filled and family-fun dance journey with a twist that you do not want to miss,” said Chauniece Thompson, Executive Artistic Director of Ballet On Wheels. “The show features jazz, modern, classical ballet and hip-hop production numbers – something for everyone to enjoy!”

The show will feature dancers ages 3 – 14 in a variety of dance genres and styles.

Tickets are currently on sale at ticketmaster.com for $24 to $30. For more information, visit www.balletonwheels.org or call (901) 870-4348.
