I was out on the town last weekend, celebrating the birthday of Sandra Booker (my sister-in-law) with a visit to Memphis Sounds on Mud Island. Guess who was in the house?
OK, I’ll tell you.
It was award-winning actress Cassi Davis, who is from Holly Springs, Miss. Davis is a well-recognized figure, having starred in several Tyler Perry movies. Many know her as Ella Payne, a role she fills on Perry’s television show, “House of Payne” and its spin-off “The Paynes.”
We had a chance to meet Davis, who attended Spelman College and is a recipient of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. She was so down to earth.
