The Super District 8 Position 2 seat vacated when Memphis City Council member Janis Fullilove resigned to serve as Shelby County Juvenile Court Clerk now is represented by Cheyenne Johnson.

During a session where filling three vacant seats was a major order of the day, Johnson, former Shelby County Assessor, was chosen to succeed Fullilove.

Earlier, Sherman Greer, emerged as the consensus choice for District 1. Controversy,  including a walkout by four council members, had surrounded the filling of that seat.

Still to be filled was the District 6 seat that became open once Edmund Ford Jr. resigned to serve on the Shelby County Board of Commissioners.
