Last night, after the Grizzlies had beaten the Orlando Magic in their preseason debut, one of my colleagues joked that everything was so new, it was like the team had just moved to Memphis — new scoreboard, new locker room, new style of play, and of course, new players.
So what do we know about the Grizzlies after actually watching them in action? Nothing really. You can’t draw any conclusions after a single preseason game anyway, let alone one in which Marc Gasol, Tyreke Evans and Ben McLemore did not play. But no, seriously: this roster is a mystery, including Head Coach David Fizdale.
“I have no idea what this team can be,” Fizdale said in his postgame remarks.
