    By TSD Newsroom

Izakaya Restaurant will usher Japanese French fusion into the 19th Century Club in the heart of the Midtown Medical District beginning with its Grand Opening on New Year’s Day.

Located at 1433 Union Avenue, the 19th Century Club is one of Memphis’ most historic architectural treasures. The mansion, which was built in 1906, has been renovated to match its “original splendor, charm and elegance.”

Izakaya will observe its Grand Opening from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Guests should expect a distinctive and wide-ranging menu from Japanese Kobe beef steaks and fusion dishes to traditional American fare.

According to the Grand Opening pitch, each entree offered by Izakaya chefs has a “unique creation story prepared with love and meticulous detail making your dining experience truly one to remember.”

The interior and exterior of restaurant Izakaya were restored by the Archer Construction Company to its authentic roots. Working with the LRK architectural firm, the goal was to “capture the spirit, history and integrity of the 1906 Mansion, while providing patrons an electric, interesting and comfortable setting with non pareil ambience.”

The main dining area features two levels of fixed seating, a large round private room, and full service bars all with views of the wide-open kitchen. Interior designs embrace an organic modern style that reflect its popular food and beverage menu.

The 19th Century Club mansion, with plentiful on site parking and valet service, has over 15,000 square feet of dining and entertaining area with seating for over 300 guests, including the patio, multiple bars and fireplaces.

Izakaya’s operators are marketing the restaurant as the “unparalleled perfect place for an intimate dinner, a birthday celebration, after hours cocktails, an engagement proposal, business meetings, banquets or any daily fine dining.”

And, they say, patrons can expect the same level of culinary excellence with catering and take out.
