Memphis in May International Festival has announced Mack Weaver as its new President and CEO, following the retirement of Jim Holt.

Weaver, a long-serving member of the festival’s team, brings over two decades of experience to the role, having previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer.

Weaver is stepping into his role at a pivotal time. The Beale Street Music Festival is on hold for 2024, after drastic financial losses in 2023 — the first year the festival was held at the newly renovated Tom Lee Park.

The festival left Tom Lee Park in shambles, prompting the Memphis River Parks Partnership to send a $1.4 million bill for the damages.

Instead, the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest is scheduled at Liberty Park from May 15-18, and the Great American River Run will take place in Downtown Memphis on May 25.
