NBA All-Star Game was a thrill assignment

As roller coaster rides go, I’ve had a doozy over the last few months and photographing the NBA All-Star Game in my hometown of Chicago was way up there on my personal-thrills chart.

After 47 years of punching the clock, I recently retired. That transition coincided with me battling prostate cancer and dealing with an infection in my spine. So just being able to say, “yes” to the opportunity to shoot the game was a win.

I met so many celebrities during the weekend and some super-talented journalists and photographers. It was cold, but when it’s your first All-Star game, who cares?

Throw in the fact that the Memphis Grizzlies, whom I shoot regularly for The New Tri-State Defender, had three rising stars showing out during the weekend and I found myself thinking that my cup runneth over.

Here are some of myriad images I captured during All-Star Game Weekend.
