Remember back years ago, when Tubby Smith couldn’t seem to recruit players from Memphis?

Yeah, us neither.

On the same day that Penny Hardaway was introduced as head coach, his mentee Alex Lomax was released from Wichita State. Lomax officially announced he’s coming to the Tigers earlier this month. And Hardaway’s own son Jayden Hardaway will suit up in Tiger Blue this fall.

And now, you can add Cordova’s Tyler Harris to the list.

Harris, who had been heavily courted by Baylor, made his announcement Friday morning during a ceremony at Cordova High. Check out this clip of the ceremony, live-streamed by Jeremy Harris on Facebook (Harris’ announcement starts at about the 25:00 mark):

But, as you can tell by an October Instagram post, Harris has been thinking of Memphis for a while:

The signing officially teams up friends/rivals Lomax and Harris, who have both won Mr. Basketball honors from TSSAA.
