Pinky Promise taking year five in stride

    By TSD Newsroom

Pinky Promise International (PPI) will celebrate a five-year milestone during their annual “Promise Ball” event Sunday (Apr. 2) at The Guest House at Graceland, 3600 Elvis Presley Blvd.

This year’s event will also mark the debut of “OBE The Eagle.” which is a book series written by PPI CEO Vicki M. Johnson. The book series was written to promote positive choice initiatives, educational learning, character and integrity development and behavior management in children, teens and adults.

PPI is an organization that promotes abstinence, faith and career-focused mentorship. The organization also addresses the moral, behavioral, academic and social needs of youth and those with at-risk behaviors. Johnson founded it in 2012 after hearing Dr. Maya Angelou deliver a speech entitled “A Rainbow In My Cloud” at the Memphis Cannon Center for the Performing Arts.

The 2017 “Promise Ball” will feature local Memphis attorney Ricky E. Wilkins as keynote speaker, along with radio personality and talk show host Bev Johnson.

The event is open to the public.
