The beat goes on during Kwanzaa

On day two of the seven-day celebration of Kwanzaa 2018-19, the principle of Kujichagulia (self-determination) was accented by the drumming of Ekpe Abioto during the Mid-South Kwanzaa, Inc. observance at Nappi by Nature Hair Co., 1247 Southbrook Mall. The celebration was sponsored by Heritage Tours.(Photo: Tyrone P. Easley)

With Ujomo (unity) and Kujichagulia (self determination) noted during the first two days of Kwanzaa, the seven-day observance rolled on to Ujima (collective work and responsibility) with observances on Friday.

The celebration of Ujima included a Mid-South Kwanzaa Inc. evening observance at Exum Towers, 3155 Sharpe. Reuben and Lula Barnes were the sponsors.
