We media types waited more or less patiently for the Grizzlies practice to end so we could get a chance to talk to the newest members of the team. We heard all kinds of racket from insde the gym – sounded like the guys were having a lot of fun. We later found out that head coach Taylor Jenkins had ordered a game of kickball – topped off with a visit from patients at Methodist Le Bonheur.

I wrote at length a few weeks ago that I thought the Grizzlies should mostly stand pat at the Trade Deadline, mostly for concerns over disrupting team chemistry. Why mess with a good thing, right?

But for as strong as the Grizzlies locker room looks from the outside, it seems to be that much tighter on the inside. The new Grizzlies – Justise Winslow, Gorgui Dieng and Jordan Bell – were all on hand for Ja Morant’s first-ever triple-double in the Grizzlies 106-99 come from behind win in Washington. Watching this sideline celebration warmed our hearts, but this made me laugh out loud:

So the Grizzlies locker room is as solid as ever. And the new guys look like they will fit in just fine. Check out the remarks of Winslow, Dieng and Bell, as well as head coach Taylor Jenkins:
