When I walk out of the offices of The New Tri-State Defender, I get blinded by whatever upcoming event is being promoted on that digital jumbotron that’s hooked onto the FedExForum plaza. In fact, it was only yesterday that I learned that Nicki Minaj and Future were supposed to be performing here in October.
Welp, so much for that.
Nicki Minaj announced that she’s postponing her North American tour dates, which will include the postponement of her Oct. 23 show here in Memphis:

But WHY, though, Nicki? She says in the clip above that completing her latest album “Queen” took longer than expected and didn’t leave her enough time to rehearse. Elsewhere on the interwebs, however, there’s speculation that the ticket sales were slow, or that some Twitter beef with Nicki and Kylie Jenner is involved. No word at all from Future yet on the matter.
If you bought tickets, you can get a refund at the point of purchase . . . or hold on to them and see if Nicki Minaj eventually makes it here to Memphis . . .
