This event will bring together teachers and classes from Memphis-area studios to offer attendees an opportunity to experience a wide range of yoga classes—a sample of the breadth of yoga offerings available in the Bluff City—in an idyllic park setting. ALLMemphis, a local organization dedicated to ensuring ALL Memphis students attain a level of literacy that allows them to reach their fullest potential, is hosting a fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 19 from 5-8 p.m. at Wiseacre Brewing Company OG at 2783 Broad Avenue Memphis, TN 38112. Join us as we celebrate another school year working with Memphis educators and students!

The Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee (SCFT) has supported the sickle cell disease (SCD) community for 16 years. In 2024, SCFT will host the 16th Annual Mark Walden Walk/Run to raise awareness and funds for SCD in the Memphis area. Funds raised will provide advocacy, awareness, and social support, including utility and rental assistance, transportation, food, and burial assistance. The event features educational presentations, entertainment, giveaways, and enrollment booths.

The 33rd Freedom Award ceremony will take place on October 17th at the historic Orpheum Theatre Memphis, paying tribute to individuals who have shown unwavering commitment to promoting justice and equality. This year’s honorees are: Xernona Clayton, civil and human rights activist and producer who worked closely with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the SCLC, has been a trailblazing leader in civil rights and broadcasting for 60 years; Sherrilyn Iffil, President and Director-Counsel Emeritus of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF), has left an indelible mark on civil rights advocacy, voter suppression; and racial discrimination; Spike Lee, Academy Award-winning filmmaker whose groundbreaking work has reshaped filmmaking and cinema, has inspired national conversations around race, representation and culture.
