Golden State Warriors player Andre Iguodala took to the airwaves of a Bay Area radio station Tuesday morning to calm down fans who are worried about his impending free agency that begins July 1.
Iguodala called in to KBLX, which he says he listens to each morning on the way to yoga, and implored the Dub Nation to hold off on passionate responses to his free agency, according to Mercury News.
โBusiness is business, so youโve got to do your due diligence,โ Iguodala said. โIโma let my people do their thing and see how it goes, but the Bay has been special to me. โฆ
โYou always have your perfect situation and you hope that gets done. So Iโma let my people do their jobs. I just want everybody to be respectful of that and not get too emotional about it, because Iโve been getting hit up (like) crazy and I havenโt said anything so Iโm just a little lost at times, like what happened? I just had a newborn so Iโve been at home trying to be a good father.โ
A report on Monday indicated that Iguodala is taking calls from other teams during his free agency, doing his due diligence. As reported on The Root on Monday, Kevin Durant is opting out of his player option for the 2017-2018, which allows the Warriors to make Iguodala an offer that is comparable to what he could get on the open market.
In all likelihood, Iguodala will remain with Golden State, but we understand Dub Nationโs concerns.
