After Weather Delay, LeMoyne-Owen MLK Prayer Breakfast set for Feb. 19

The LeMoyne-Owen College Alumni Association has announced the return of the esteemed 33rd Annual MLK Prayer Breakfast. Scheduled for February 19, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., this year’s event will take place at the University of Memphis Holiday Inn, marking a significant gathering for the community.

Under the theme “Uniting the Dream: Connecting Our Traditions to a New Generation of Leaders,” the breakfast aims to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and promote leadership among new generations. The event, a staple in the Memphis community, was previously postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

Interim President Dr. Christopher B. Davis emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “As the 5th oldest HBCU in the country, we recognize our responsibility to uphold Dr. King’s legacy by continuing his work in Memphis. Our aim this year is to empower the next generation of leaders with the timeless values and principles of our predecessors as we journey towards a more inclusive and progressive future.”

The prayer breakfast is not just a commemoration of Dr. King’s birthday; it is a symbol of his enduring influence and the commitment of LeMoyne-Owen College, the sole HBCU in Memphis, to continue his mission.
