COMING THIS FALL: ‘Do You Really Know Memphis?’

by Floyd Ivy —

With the city’s youth in mind, Ike Griffith, director of the Memphis Office of Youth Services, is set this fall to premiere a new game show, “Do You Really Know Memphis.”

Griffith thinks the game show is a good way to shed light on the different aspects of Memphis for the city’s youth.

The trivia-based game show will cover a range of topics, including politics, sports, music and food.

“It’s really designed to get our young people abreast of their city,” Griffith said.

“We have a lot of kids in our city who don’t know different parts of it; the great landmarks and the great leaders that we have, and I thought this game show would be ideal to educate our young people about the importance of the city they live in.”

“Do You Really Know Memphis” will be filmed at the Benjamin Hooks Library. The show will be primarily focused towards young people ages 14 to 22.

Griffith wouldn’t mind having some episodes featuring senior citizens in competition.

Contestants will receive study guides before they appear on the show.

Asked about goals for the game show, Griffith said, “Well number one, to let our children know about the city they are living in, to let them know their city, know their history, and it’s educational. That’s the important thing.

“But most importantly, it’s an activity that our young people can partake in and be a part of, and think about things in a positive light and be able to pass this on to their peers.”
