The family ofย Robert Godwin Sr., the man who was killed in a video posted to Facebook by suspect Steve Stephens, are now speaking out, not only to forgive the shooter but to ask him to turn himself in.
โOne thing I do want to say is I forgive him. Because we are all sinners,โ Robert Godwin Jr., Godwinโs son,ย told CNN Monday night. โIf youโre out there, if you are listening, turn yourself in. Youโve done enough damage, just turn yourself in.โ
Godwinโs daughter Tammyย chimed in asking the shooter to โgive us closure,โ saying,ย โJust turn yourself in. We donโt hate you. You took something from us and we still donโt hate you.โ
Naujia Goodwin, another of Godwinโs ten children, said that she found out about her fatherโs death on social media from friends and family.ย โAt first I was angry,โ Naujia said. โI was like โWhy would you do that to my dad? Why would you put it online?โโ But, she added,ย โI guess my dad had to die for people to realize life wasnโt guaranteed.โ
Stephens has been placed on the FBIโs 10 most-wanted list and is current the subject of a multi-state manhunt in progress.
